Abstract: A unique equestrian estate in Newport Beach, California has just hit the market for $32 million. The estate features a man-made lake and a sprawling mid-century mansion.

Finding a home on 2.7 acres in Newport Beach with a well-stocked lake, a 10-car garage, and a tranquil courtyard is a once-in-a-lifetime thing.

He explains that the estate was created by the kind of person you might only meet once in your life.

Harry Rinker died in 2021 at the age of 100. He started out as a broker and became the man behind one of America's most iconic developers - thousands of homes, dozens of shopping centres and hundreds of gas stations in Orange County.

Link was also involved in the world's highest-end residential communities in Sun Valley, Indiana, helping to put the now-legendary luxury town on the map. Link and his wife, Diana, have also donated millions of dollars to educational, artistic, environmental and medical organisations.

One of Link's greatest projects, however, was building the estate for his family. The land itself was purchased for about $100,000 in the early 1960s. He then commissioned architect Philmer J. Ellerbroek to design the home, which he intended to use for large-scale entertaining and intimate family life.

The architect was far ahead of his time; the home, completed in 1966, is breathtaking," says Stanaland. It has been meticulously maintained over the years, so it is in excellent condition."

The 5,872-square-foot home sits at the end of a winding gravel driveway behind a gated entrance flanked by mature trees.

Says Stannaland, "It's truly isolated and completely private." A true paradise."

The home has five bedrooms, 5.5 baths and a main living room that includes a formal sitting room, a game room with a half-vaulted exposed-beam ceiling, and a multi-purpose open space that leads to the outdoors. There is also a pool table and a bar.

The master suite is located in a separate wing and is a private retreat. One side of the suite overlooks the pool, while the other has views of the back bay. The other bedrooms are located in other areas of the home, providing privacy for the entire family.

The home's courtyard is equally spectacular. The family has been raising and riding horses on the property for decades. Although the stables have since been converted into parking for luxury cars, it would be easy to convert them back, says Stanaland.

The estate also features a spa, manicured trails and a lake stocked with bass, crayfish and bluegill.

Stanaland explains, "We fish as a family in the lake, which is large enough to accommodate a rowboat." Pheasants also live on the property, as well as a host of migratory birds, including bald eagles, fish eagles and snowy herons."

Over the years, parties at the house have been legendary, featuring live music from an orchestra and boozy partygoers like John Wayne.

This home is perfect for the joyful family who desires their own private haven, but also wants to be open to sharing it with others on occasion.

Diane Rinker has lived here since her husband's death, but is now ready to downsize. Stanaland notes that she hopes to pass on the happiness and hope that the house carries to its new owners.
