Detailed Introduction Of This Home
This San Rafael residence was designed by architect Whitney R. Smith, one of the original Case Study House Program architects. The original home built in 1941 was a small residence offering just under 1000 sq. ft. with two bedrooms and 1 bath. In 2007, the owners commissioned architect Ken Kurose to design an addition and remodel. The new design includes a sun-filled entry, an en-suite on both the lower level, and the addition of a second en-suite on the upper level, which includes a private balcony. The well-thought-out design was in keeping with the original and feels open, spacious, and airy, which includes a well-appointed kitchen with custom cabinets and upper-tier appliances. The home's grounds are zen-like, with outdoor patios that expand the living spaces beyond the exterior walls. The home offers privacy and is centrally located in the very desirable San Rafael area of Pasadena.
