Abstract: A week after a $380,000 hobbit house in Keene, California, went on the market, the bids are rolling in.

Within three weeks, the quirky abode had found a buyer.

"The seller, an art teacher at a high school not far from the house, had an eclectic sensibility and was very much into Alice in Wonderland and Tim Burton," explained Christy Rabe, listing agent for Platinum Realty Group.

"You just walk in and you're like, 'Oh my gosh, this is such a cute little cottage,'" Rabe added.

Many details, such as chandeliers resembling teacups and teapots, and playful pots sticking out of the walls, are included in the sale.

The house, which sits on 2.5 acres, is just as charming outside, with "little details in the front yard with a chessboard and chess pieces," Rabe says.

The two-bedroom, two-bathroom house is about 849 square feet, but Rabe says it feels bigger.

It's certainly comfortable.

"It's all stone and rock on the exterior and the walls themselves are Styrofoam blocks, so it's very well insulated and very unique," Rabe said.

The roof has an undulating style, and many of the windows are rounded.

"I love all the interior features and amenities. It's so whimsical and fun," says Rabe.

The first floor has a wood-burning fireplace, granite hearth, living space, and a bedroom and bathroom.

Upstairs there is a sitting area and another bedroom and bath.

The property includes a small store with water and electricity.

"It's nestled in a small community full of oak trees and horseback riding trails, and it's absolutely beautiful," she said. The location is about 30 minutes from Bakersfield.

She said that while she marketed the property as a great vacation rental, the buyer intended to live in the home full-time.

"The buyers actually bought it without seeing it. They moved from the East Coast, and their agent sent them FaceTim from the house," she said." They wrote the offer, and then they came out to see the house, and they were excited."
